This home was built to withstand storm surges and keep the garaged items from washing away. The pillars/pylons were designed in a boat shape so that the surging water would not undermine, or washout the footings below; with the water being sent along its way. Round pillars would have that affect at the base. In the Bahamas, the one zoning law they do have is that the roof be an inverted support
