Rice Strawbales, but MUCH better!
We have long been proponents of homes done from strawbales. We even designed a container as structure, with strawabales as the exterior walls, home. -10 years ago!
This is much better, though! It provides opportunities for sweat-equity like few other building construction materials can. It is a very green method of building any type of building that used to be made from wood, especially. I am going to predict that between this solution and the bamboo wall system we have seen, that both of these systems will become the preeminent systems by which the AEC industry builds homes and other wood based projects. I also predict that both of the companies that are the leaders of this technology will become billion dollar companies within the decade, if not sooner!
Currently this solution is available, albeit it is still expensive at: $30/block. The goal is to get it down to $7.50/block in the near future. They are looking for funding, and as such, if you are interested, please contact Michael to set up an introduction to them to discuss the opportunity at hand.
Please see our article in Worship Facilities Magazine's January, 2010 issue, for more info on this and other green materials. Wer have a podcast of the article on this site, on the Churches page.
